Plantain

In ancient Anglo-Saxon, she was known as the MOTHER OF HERBS. I refer to it as my miracle herb. The colonizers introduced plantain to the Americas. It is not to be confused with the culinary banana known as plantain in Central and South America.

When I get a bird bite or similar major injury and apply a plantain leaf that has been boiled for 10 minutes to the wound, the agony goes away in minutes. Plantain contains tannin, which has the potential to bind tissues together (ask me why I don’t have a large scar on my nose from a bird bite).

After learning more about it, I began utilizing it internally, and it proved to be an even more potent internal healer. Aside from being high in trace minerals, it is also believed to neutralize stomach acid and toxins, halt hemorrhage, repair chronic lung ailments, and much more. I often combine it with other herbs to treat a variety of ailments. For example, the leaves may be brewed into a tea with Slippery Elm Bark Powder to treat a variety of crop and digestive disorders.

Plantain grows in practically every yard and may be fed to your birds freely if the region is not treated with pesticides.
