Greycheek Parakeets (Brotogeris Pyrrhopterus)

The Greycheek parakeet, also known as the Brotogeris Pyrrhopterus, is an excellent choice for a pet for apartment dwellers or families with a limited amount of living space. They do not require a large amount of space, and a cage that is 18 inches square would be a suitable size for this little wonder.

They enjoy playing with toys and hiding in different areas. (Some people also refer to them as “pocket parrots.”) The babies that are being hand-fed adore being around people and will ride around on your shoulder or in your pocket for as long as you will let them for as long as they are being hand-fed. It wouldn’t take much to ruin this itty-bitty tuft of feathers, would it? It is important to keep in mind that you are interacting with a bird that will always behave similarly to a toddler of two years old. Because of this, it is preferable to establish your limits at the outset rather than attempting to fix the issues that you cause.
